Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events

After their parents are tragically killed, three young orphans -- Violet (Emily Browning), Klaus (Liam Aiken) and Sunny -- are taken in by the cunning and dastardly Count Olaf (Jim Carrey), who hopes to snatch their inheritance from them. Based on the series of best-selling, darkly funny children's books, director Brad Silberling's film co-stars Meryl Streep, Billy Connolly and Timothy Spall. Jude Law narrates as Lemony Snicket.

Ok so it took me a long while to see this film because a lot of my friends (who share same taste in movies with me) told me this was not a film I would enjoy. I thought they are probley right seeming how in the past I have not enjoyed movies like this. So I was more than presently surprised with this film . The sets and visual effects are stunning, and the characters are lively and interesting. The movie is full of dark humor, and its Gothic style, akin to a Tim Burton film such as Edward Scissorhands or Nightmare Before Christmas, serve as great visual emphasis for the dark theme.I loved Jim Carrey's Proformance I didn't find out until after I watched this film that there were books on them so I didn't have that working agianst me (I am planning on reading those books soon). So that is why the five stars. I will be buying this movie.
